Castle of Skopelos

At the top of the hill above the town of Skopelos, you will see the remains of the ancient wall that surrounded the citadel of ancient Peparethos, as well as parts of what was added in Byzantine and Venetian times. The view from the castle is impressive.

Episkopi

In the area of Episkopi you will find the Venetian fort of 16th to 17th century. The stone wall with small windows and battlements surrounds a small church, built on the ruins of a large three-aisled basilica church. In some places you can see carved animal figures.

Asklepion of Ancient Peparethos

The Asklepion of Ancient Peparethos (4th century. B.C.) is one of the oldest monuments of its kind in Greece. Archaeological excavations have revealed a portico of the classic years with excellent masonry and marble statues. In the area there is an exhibition space with the findings of the excavation.

Ai Giannis at Kastri

This small chapel is located on the top of a steep cliff, which rises 100 meters from the sea. There are about 200 steps to climb to get to the chapel but the spectacular view of the sea will reward you. The famous wedding scene of Mama Mia! film was filmed here.

The picturesque village of Glossa is located in the northwestern part of Skopelos, perched on the hillside above the port of Loutraki. It is characterized by cobblestone streets, traditional houses and stunning views over the Aegean.

Next to the small peninsula of Glisteri, you will find the cave of Trypiti. This is a breathtaking scenery only accessible by sea.

Pine Forest of Skopelos

The biggest part of Skopelos is covered by dense pine forest, making the island one of the greenest of Greece. You will definitely enjoy driving through the forest or hiking from Chora to Loutraki, following the main roads. Several parts of the forest offer wonderful views of the beaches and the sea.

Stafilos

This is a sandy beach with clear water in the heart of a pine bay in the south of the island. It is 4.5 km from the main town and is organized with umbrellas, sun beds, a beach bar and a lifeguard.
